Art In Work

Working now on fishes and animals of the Arctic Ocean and African rivers (i.e. Congo, Nile) for my next two children's Fishes and Whales books. I also have released individual works ahead of the books to buy on shirts, hats, wallpaper, fabrics, etc. on my shopping sites. I added Dalls Porpoise, and Elephant Fish for the next two books, in addition to Nile Perch, Tigerfish, and Harp Seals.  Also assembling a master book of all my fishes, and whales,  in a large color book called Sight Fishes for 2016, as a kid's fish identification work. For that book I pushed out a liopleurodon design on my designs page) .  If you didn't know, that monster had a giant set of jaws with snaggly teeth, like a mosasaur but bigger jaws compared to body length. For extint animals, take pictures from a set of fossils, then using what I know about biology, then take some guesses for color and muscle structure. On the same site you can find my DunkleosteusOrthocone, Xiphactinus, and  Megolodon. Illustration is by far the longest time element in any of my children's books, but I can reuse the drawings usually in other books, or for sale.

Space Presos and upcoming works

Hello again!
Still working on You Will Fly Spaceships, and self-editing a big grown-up sci-fi novel before letting it go into Scout.
Book Signing in 4 weeks (see events, 19 Nov,  St. Charles County Library).
I did a couple of professional presentation on Space Colonies (yup, I do the real thing too, though self funded, not just the kids books on space).  One was at the American Institute of Astronautics and Aeronautics (AIAA) SPACE 2015 forum in Pasadena, California 02 September: Of Fruits and Fishes: A Space Farm and Recycling Concept.  The preso is posted on my Space site, under terraforming. The manuscript is in the Proceedings and in all the academic sources (including via your local college library, likely free from there).  I updated that work (though missed a typo LOL), and wrote a simulation in PERL and XML for the St. Louis UNIX Users Group  14 October (sluug.org).  Yes, I do indeed fly the geek flag high and proud.

Also working on the next Fishes and Whales Series, Arctic based. Some of the characters are already up for purchase on clothes, etc. just like all my other copyrighted drawings.

Thank you always.  I really appreciate anyone who reads my works!

Book Signing

Hello again,

Will be doing a book signing and book sale (for donations, to benefit the St. Louis Crisis Nursery) as part of the St. Charles County Library Annual Local Author Open House, look for my table and posters of my book covers, I will likely be somewhere in the maze of tables.

Date/Time: 19 November 2015, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM CST
Location: Spencer Road Branch-Community Commons 427 Spencer Rd, St Peters, MO 63376

Last blog I forgot to mention a children's pseudo-fiction book Meiklo's Day Home, which features simple words, and fun drawings of our rat-terrier Meiklo, in his real behaviors.

It shows that book as featured, but I will bring copies of all of my books, including my latest kid's space books. Good fun every time.

if nothing else, browse the group of authors and support them too, and if you come by, feel free to ask questions about my books, or anything I might try to explain.

thank you as always, and humbly yours,
Bryce

initial author post

Hello all my readers and want to be readers, or those just curious!

I write four kinds of books (mostly):

  • Sci-Fi/Fantasy
    • So Far, Just Web of Ice, Gossamer Crystals,. though I have another one that is finished and in edit.
  • Science and Engineering, for kids and adults
    • You Will ___ Space (TM)
      • Guides with experiments, that teach kids of all ages the basics of space exploration and colonization, including engines, habitats, spaceships, spaceflight, etc.
    • Fishes and Whales (TM)  Series
      • Simple fun, and verse, with colorful drawings of real fish, whales, dolphins, manatees, seals, sea lions, invertebrates, etc. in real ecosystems, with identification guides at the end. Each book focuses on a locale or type. The latest was focuses for example on coral reefs.  The next book will focus on the Arctic Ocean and Circle, the next after that on Africa's Rivers.
      • A spin-off series of upper grade level and up short books that focus on food webs, morphology, and other fish ecology and ichthyology topics.
      • Note, if you liked any drawings in those books, I keep an e-store to market those. Just search for the species and my name.
  • Fishing Travel Books.
    • The last book was focused on the Branson area and Lake Taneycomo. A new book (see below)  is 40% done.
  • Puppy and other books
    • Meiklo's Day Home, and  Poor Bucks Trial are examples.  Cute books just because I wanted to put puppies in books. Poor Bucks Trial is a fictional story, though the locale is roughly Busch Wildlife Area in Weldon Springs, and the 1970's. Meiklo's Day Home is about my dog, Meiklo, and features many of his typical behaviors.
Current Projects:
1) Just released You Will Design Spaceships, and soon to follow will be a kids book on spaceflight including orbits, landing, docking, and interstellar flight, You Will Fly Spaceships, targeting January 2016. I originally combined the two spaceship books, but broke them up to add more topics and experiments. After that maybe a book on Space Farms, since I have some professional papers published on the topic, and am building a new model for one.
2) I am doing up a new fishing travel book, focusing on target of opportunity fishing and a few major locations in the USA, formatted a bit differently than the Taneycomo Book.  TBD on date for that one.
3) Have a new Sci-Fi novel done, new universe than the previous book, may debut on Amazon Scout in early 2016/ late 2015.
4) Look at a rewrite  of Webs of Ice, Gossamer Crystals under a new title based on some very good feedback by my friends.  Will be expanded and grown up a bit, likely more than the 50K words now, maybe minus some illustrations. Look for a prequel of that book in novel form sometime next year.

Thank you for all your support and future support,
Bryce
